Wigmore & District Smallholders Club is looking for a Chef/Cook - Kitchen Manager to join our team! We’re looking for enthusiastic and creative Chef/Cook to join our dedicated and friendly kitchen team.
This will be a 6 to 12 month place with a view to make permanent
Responsible for planning menus and special dishes that inspire members to come back again and again to see what is new.

Responsibilities:
- Manage kitchen staff and assist in the hiring of qualified staff as required.
- Establish menus and train kitchen staff in order to provide the highest quality food service.
- Ensure all food items are stored correctly and labelled properly.
- Determine the stock levels and maintain an appropriate supply at the premises.
- Employs food safety best practices and makes sure that all kitchen staff members do the same.
- Selects choice ingredients that will give dishes the best flavour/value for money.
- Provide new specialties that will draw diners into the club and conduct regular menu analysis.
- Coaches’ other members of the kitchen staff, so they perform at their best.
- Keeps up with trends in cooking and the restaurant business to ensure that guests have a positive experience.
- Works quickly and accurately during busy periods.
- Cleaning and maintaining high levels of hygiene and record keeping.
- Ensuring you have a great working relationship with other team members.
- Work to maintain profit margins.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant/Pub/Club, including experience in a high-volume kitchen, prep, and or service departments.
- Knowledge of health and safety guidelines for kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, deep fryers, etc.
- Knowledge of sanitation guidelines and procedures
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.
- Capability to deliver food Gross Profit to budget.
- Experience in stock taking and management of stock.
- Previous experience is required for this post including full running of kitchens including food orders
- To be efficient and have a high level of attention to detail.
- To take pride in delivering good looking, tasty dishes every time
- Ability to work under pressure either alone or as part of a team.
- Good time management & organisational skill, flexible and adaptable
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic food hygiene certificate (an NVQ level 2 and intermediate/advanced food hygiene are desirable)
- Driving licence essential
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary contract, Fixed term contract
Salary: £27,500.00-£29,000.00 per year
